Augmented Reality Part 4: I like where Nokia is going

I have been following the Augmented Reality scene for a while and even though I get very excited about this technology, to me we are ways off from it now. However, I like the vision-enabled features and I would be first in line to try it out for sure.

The phone it runs on, the hardware glasses and bracelet are all things that can be stylistic, so I am not sure I agree with Fast Company's opinions that Nokia's vision… Continue

3D Scanning Technology

Check out this 3D Scanning Technology from Next Engine in California. Their device creates a 3D model of just about any part in a few minutes. The file is then used in a 3D "printer" that creates a plastic copy of the original part.… Continue

Man-ly Travel RAV

Recently I thought traveling with my family via RV sounded like a fun adventure. Traveling with guy friends in a posh vehicle like this might even be better.

No blow up doll required however. Don't want anyone getting jealous.

Augmented Reality: Part III

As posted on FastCompany's site, there continues to be a fast adoption of Augmented reality applications. From Games to GPS. For now, it appears that the iPHONE has it's first application on the APP Store and I now wish I had an iPhone to test it.…

Augmented Reality Part II

http://www.fastcompany.com/blog/kit-eaton/technomix/augmented-reality-round-navigation-apps

This article had another round of HOT augmented technologies that are multiplying faster than my cousin's rabbit. Unlimited applications is probably an exaggeration, but some of the ones I am seeing are pretty cool.

Bare Conductive INK and Music. Very nifty.

I cam across this site on Fast Company's pages but went direct to the source to check out their videos. Here is the "how they do it video" and on the site there is a link to the actual video. Painted body circuits is very artistic and creative. Can't wait to see this on Cirque du Soleil or something like that.

Augmented Reality Games: A brand new genre to consider

I recently came across this article on FastCompany and really was impressed with this new "application" of gaming, handheld devices, and graphics rendering. Very impressive indeed. I wish I could get my hands on one to try. Very fun. If you search on YouTube for "Augmented Reality" there are several examples of other projects too. I saw several camera based phones being used.

We need more of this: Solar Trees and urban influences.

I loved this image. To me, it represents the smaller but effective use of solar in everyday life that would be fully accepted (socially and asthetically), useful, and practical in our industrial environment.

I don't know the Cost/Watt ratio here but I can tell you that it makes a TON of sense to me. I wish there was more of this.…
